AlumniPolimi North America: Design Innovation Culture with Mauro Porcini, a virtual event on July 7th

We are excited to offer you a virtual event focused on Design Innovation Culture on Tuesday July 7th, at 12 pm ET.

The speaker will be Mauro Porcini, SVP and Chief Design Officer at PepsiCo, in conversation with Claudio Dell’Era, Associate Professor of Design Strategy at Politecnico di Milano.

If you missed the event, no worries:

Summary of the event:

Design is all about people:
– The people we design for and their needs and wants: the user, the consumer, or simply, the human being.
– The people designing and their way of thinking: the designer, the innovator, the entrepreneur.
– The people surrounding the designer and the dynamics of their interactions with the designer: the sponsor, the business leader, the R&D partner, the co-conspirator, the team, the roadblocker. They can enable, amplify, accelerate, or disable, slow down or destroy.

Mauro Porcini has been studying, shaping and directing across these three dimensions of people as Chief Design Officer of multinational corporations like PepsiCo and 3M for many years. With COVID-19 now impacting people in each of these dimensions – changing, amplifying and evolving needs and desires, ways of thinking and working, and the dynamics of interactions and connections – it’s clear that the human beings that design, the human beings that surround the designers, and the human beings we all design for won’t be the same anymore.

  • Also involved in a no profit projet to support Italy; more from the founder:
"A team of volunteers, in collaboration with Multiply Labs and Porsche Consulting, is setting up a high-throughput robotic COVID-19 testing system in Italy. The system is being installed in the city of Bergamo, one of the places that has been hit the hardest by the pandemic. The robotic system will increase testing throughput in Bergamo by 10X, enabling local health authorities to test asymptomatic people and to prevent new outbreaks as Italy gradually reopens. The system consists of 20+ robots, which work in parallel to test a large number of samples at the same time. The project is entirely run by volunteers, and the machines are funded by a donation from Rotary International. The code and the procedures that are being developed to run this high-throughput testing system will be published in open source. That way, every lab in the world which is using similar machinery will be able to dramatically increase COVID-19 testing throughput."
